Alexis Beck, MPH, RD, LDN.

Twenty-five years in medical nutrition therapy. Mass General trained. UC Berkeley MPH. Cornell undergraduate. Harvard doctoral candidate in psychology. Boston Globe columnist for fifteen years.

Twenty years into practice, Alexis lost forty five pounds over three years. Not on a diet. Not by trying harder. Once she treated the right targets, the weight came off and stayed off.

From the journal

The Rx Journal.

Notes on medical obesity, metabolic regulation, and the science behind a treated condition.

Why obesity is not a choice. It is actually a disease.

Obesity is a chronic condition rooted in metabolic dysregulation, not a behavioral failure. Understanding the biology is the first step toward treating it like the medical disease it is.

Understanding obesity medication.

A look at how GLP-1 medications work, who they are appropriate for, and why they require coordinated medical nutrition therapy to deliver sustained results.

On metabolic regulation, in plain language.

Have Questions?

Maybe these will help.

  • Do you take insurance?
NutritionRx is a boutique concierge practice billed privately. We do not process insurance directly. Many patients submit invoices to their plan for partial out of network reimbursement, and we provide the documentation needed to do so.
  • Do you work with patients already on a GLP-1 medication?
Yes. Medication integration with medical nutrition therapy is one of the core services of the practice. We coordinate dosing, protect muscle mass, optimize protein intake, and treat the underlying biology so the medication does what it is supposed to do.
  • Is the care virtual or in person?
Virtual. Patients are seen through secure telehealth sessions from our virtual offices in Boston and New York. This format preserves the depth of the clinical work and removes the friction of commuting to an office.
  • What conditions does NutritionRx treat?
Medical obesity, chronic weight gain and compulsive dieting, GLP-1 medication integration, menopausal weight changes, metabolic syndrome, and disordered eating. The work is medical, not motivational.
